Hello Mustangs and Families! It has come to our attention that some Moorlands students are getting a bit excited before school and forgetting our PRIDE Trait expectations. To help with student safety and supervision, we are asking that students set their backpacks down outside their classrooms when they arrive, and then go directly to the playground. Parents, you are welcome to stay with your child until the bell rings, but we are asking that you wait with them out by the playground. We appreciate your understanding and support with this! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

• If you have started your Spring cleaning and find books you would like to donate to school, please be aware the library only accepts hardcover books in excellent condition.  Thanks in advance for your help with this!

• The library system will send out an email this weekend with an updated list of books your Mustang currently has out.  As always, please email Jen Schroeder at jschroeder@nsd.org if you have any questions regarding library books. 

• Our Mustang Readers have checked out almost 26,000 books since the beginning of the school year!

• Don't forget, the Birthday Book Club is online!  You can view the Amazon Wish list and have your Mustang choose a favorite title to be donated to the Moorlands Elementary Library.  They will be the first to check it out and a book plate will be placed inside with their name on it. 

Giant Chess at Recess is starting up.    With the better weather, we are ready to open up the chess and checkers games at recess again.    We're looking for parent volunteers to unlock the bins, monitor and support the games, have the students clean up and then lock up.

2/3 grades 1:10 - 1:40

Moorland Evening Concerts are Back! 

For the first time since the COVID pandemic, Moorlands will be holding spring concerts for grade levels and choir. If your child is in one of these grade levels, please save the date and time. You'll hear their musical skills blooming! 

April Concerts

• Tues. April 4 at 6:30 PM - 7 PM (Moorlands Gym) Grade 3 Spring Concert. Grade 3 Families only. 

• Tues. April 4 at 7:30 PM - 8 PM  (Moorlands Gym) Grade 4 Spring Concert. Grade 4 Families only. 

• April 27 at 7 PM - 7:30 PM (Northshore Concert Hall at IHS) Mustang Choirs' Season Finale Concert. This is a free concert open to the public. 

May Concerts

• May 16 at 6:30 PM - 7 PM (Moorlands Gym) Grade 1 Spring Concert. Grade 1 Families only. 

• May 16 at 7:30 PM - 8 PM  (Moorlands Gym) Grade 2 Spring Concert. Grade 2 Families only. 

The Department of Health (DOH) requires schools to inform families and students about  COVID-19 case numbers and potential outbreaks. This week, there were a total of 5 confirmed cases from our school. The accuracy of our data depends on self-reporting. Thank you for continuing to let the school know if your child tests positive for COVID-19. To view additional information, including school and district trends visit the District’s COVID-19 data dashboard. The dashboard is updated weekly on Monday evenings. 

If your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19  keep them home and test for COVID-19. Families can order free COVID-19 tests from the state. Together, we can keep our schools healthy and safe.  

Rapid antigen testing supplies continue to be available. Please let the office know if you need home tests.

HEAD START, ECEAP, READY START Head Start, ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program) and Ready Start are early learning programs that provide many free services to eligible 3-5 yr. old children and their families.

School Meal Accounts - Register on Titan

NSD moved from PayPams to Titan in 2020 but many families have not registered in Titan yet due to meals being free for the last two years. All account balances were transferred automatically from PayPams to Titan, but families need to register in order to view or add money to student accounts.

Apply for Free & Reduced Price Meals

Families will need to reapply for benefits by the end of September.
