Mustang Memo - 10/14/22
Happy Friday Mustangs~
This week, as last week, the theme is safety. We all know the parking lot (lack thereof), drop-off and pick-up area at Moorlands are not ideal. However, we do the best we can with what we have and all our plans have student safety first and foremost. With that being said, it is imperative all families follow the rules around parking and student drop-off and pick-up.
Moorlands parking and drop-off/pick-up rules:
-
When dropping off and picking up your student please use the entrance to the church parking lot off of 155th. DO NOT enter the exit as this is not safe. When turning into the entrance remember there is NO LEFT TURN and you must turn right into the parking lot.
-
Drop off and pick up are only in the church parking lot. Please do not drop off or pick up students in the gravel parking lot off of 81st. This lot is used strictly for Daycare Vans. Please click on the map to see a visual.
-
Gates will be locked at 9:15am for the start of school. If your family is arriving late (9:14am or after) to car drop-off and there is no longer an adult at car drop-off, please drive your student to the front office and use the main office gate as it will be the only gate unlocked during the day.
-
You all should have been given signs to use during car pick-up. Thank you all who have been using the signs provided. This is very helpful and is a safety measure. If you need more signs or need something changed, please email the main office at g.moorlandsoffice@nsd.org
-
Please display your sign in the front window or passenger side window.
-
DO NOT park in the church parking lot. If you would like to park and pick your child up, please do so on the street. Parking in the church parking lot creates a backup, and causes those who are using the church parking lot correctly to be delayed in picking up their child.
-
During drop-off and pick-up, families are parking at the intersection of 84th Ave NE and NE 153rd Street (the entrance/exit of Vineyard Crest Development). The way in which cars are parked causes a safety issue and is illegal. Parking is not allowed within 30 feet of a stop sign or within 20 feet of a crosswalk inorder to keep good visibility of the stop sign and crosswalk (this is a violation of the City of Kemore’s parking code even if families are just sitting in their car). The City of Kenmore as well as the Kenmore Police have been made aware of this violation and will ticket drivers if it persists.
Until next week,
Meghan Griffin, Principal (mgriffin@nsd.org)
LaTisha Joseph, Assistant Principal (ljoseph@nsd.org)
