Greetings Moorlands Parents/Guardians!
Hello! I hope you and your family are doing well and staying healthy during these unprecedented times. I am both excited and delighted to be serving as your child’s principal for my second year. All of us at Moorlands are so excited your child will be attending Moorlands this upcoming school year. The first day of school will begin on September 2, 2020; Moorlands Elementary will be providing 100% virtual instruction.
While we are excited to begin the new school year, we also understand many, including myself, are concerned and anxious about what this year may bring with the many changes that are happening due to COVID-19. This year presents unique opportunities and challenges for us all. Moorlands staff is committed to making the best of this situation and ensuring all students at Moorlands are provided with the best education possible.
In an effort to ensure our students are prepared for the first day of school, we have scheduled a time for devices and materials distribution for students on Tuesday, August 25, 2020; we are calling it the “Moorlands Welcome Back Wave Parade”. Please arrive at the scheduled time for your child’s grade level. During the Welcome back Wave Parade, all parties must drive to school, wear a mask and stay in the vehicle.
We have included a number of documents in this letter to assist you and your child with a smooth start of the school year:
- Schedule of Moorlands Welcome Back Wave Parade (materials/device distribution) on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 (if you are unable to make this date, there will be a make-up opportunity posted at a later date)
- Specific instructions for requesting a device and/or hotspot
- Supply lists by grade level
- “Making Connections with Mustangs” - the first three weeks of school
We thank you for your willingness to follow the procedures and expectations during these times. As we continue to navigate through these unprecedented times, it is paramount we work together. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the school. Stay encouraged and stay safe!
*Teacher letters and class assignments will be sent via mail by the end of the week.
